Detox: How to detox after overindulging | Allergy Test

Here at Allergy Test, we like to prepare you for upcoming events. That’s why we recently shared our top 3 Tips for a Healthier Easter and even Ways to Enjoy Chocolate. But we’ve all been there before: our lust for chocolate outweighs the cons of feeling bloated afterwards, and we overindulge. It happens to the best of us, but we wanted to share our top tips for a speedy recovery, and how you can get your body feeling great again. Have you considered a detox?

Don’t Give Up

It’s easy to fall back into a bad routine after a couple of days off track. Just remember to tell yourself that it’s completely normal to have a few days off your healthy eating habits, especially around special occasions. Just tell yourself that you will get back on track at the next available opportunity and stay positive.

Be Prepared

If you’ve exposed yourself to a food you’re intolerant to and you’re now starting to feel all of those symptoms creeping in, make sure you give yourself some time to relax. By now, you’re probably aware of your symptoms and the things you can do to relieve them, such as a hot water bottle or a detox drink. So run yourself a bath, drink lots of water, and get yourself back into the right headspace – give yourself some ‘you’ time.

Exercise

If you’re feeling guilty from overindulging in bad foods, then try and add some high intensity cardio into your routine. If you work up a sweat, tell yourself that it’s all of the bad foods leaving your body – it’ll be great motivation to keep going! If you’ve been exposed to a food you’re intolerant to, then the last thing on your mind will be high intensity cardio, so switch it up for something more relaxing such as yoga or pilates – you could even just do some light stretching to really help your body open up and feel great again.

Find some Detox Recipes

The Internet is a wonderful thing, and you can find pretty much everything you want at the click of a button. Why not familiarize yourself with some detox recipes. Salads, soups and even adding things to your water can all help reduce the bloat and leave you feeling good from the inside out.

One of our favorite ingredients is ginger. It has some incredible healing benefits for bloating and nausea, so add a slice of fresh ginger to your water, or find some lemon and ginger tea. You’ll start to feel your symptoms reduce in no time.
